Projects I have worked on with SGA:

Residents Hall Smoking Ban:

To protect students from second hand smoke on recommendation from student nurses the Student Government investigated the possibility of banning smoking from the residents halls on the campus of the Milwaukee School of engineering.  Banning smoking near the entrances of the campus buildings was also investigated so that students a faculty would not have to walk through a could of smoke to enter campus buildings.  The social, financial and legal effects of the smoking ban were discussed by the Issues Committee of SGA and a student survey was conducted.  With the results of the discussions with administrators and students the following recommendation was developed.

After presenting the proposal to the president and vice-presidents of the university they considered the effect of instituting the proposal and responded with the following letter.

Shuttle Hours and Service locations:

The Issues Committee of SGA collected all of the needs for transportation that the students and student organizations of MSOE would have and working from that list identified the key times and places that would best serve the student body.  SGA communicated this information to the public safety and worked with them to tailor a plan that would suit the students needs and still be feasible for the department.

SGA Spring Fling Gift

Over the last three years Spring Fling as been transformed and now costs much less than it once did.  A small part of that savings is now used by SGA to buy a gift for the university that will be of value to the student body.

In 2004 the tables and chairs in the Student Organizations Conference room were replace as the Spring Fling gift.  This gave the Student Organization Conference room added class and is now well used by student organizations as well as by many other university departments and groups increasing the visibility of student organizations and giving them more credibility.

In 2005 the tables that were on the Science Building patio were moved to the State Street side of the Library Building and replaced with new vinyl covered metal picnic tables.  This increased outdoor work space and seating on campus giving students more room to work in the outdoor enjoying the nice Milwaukee weather.  Now all the tables including the ones moved off of the patio are used by students.

In 2006 new benches were selected for placing in front of the Campus Center building.  This will provide outdoor seating for students, faculty, staff, and visitors giving people a place to sit while waiting for a ride or while waiting for a class to start.

SGA Student Organization Database

During the 05-06 and 06-07 SGA terms Senator and Parliamentarian Adam Stasiniewicz programmed a comprehensive database for SGA.  This database will encompass all the registration, funding and miscellaneous SGA tasks that are done annually for each Student Organizations.  It will allow SGA to keep a permanent record of all the registration and funding data for each student Organization which will allow those organizations to gather information on former officers or funding levels and many other data ranges.  The database is also very flexible and will be able to be adapted to serve MSOE, SGA and the Student Organizations well for years to come.
