Dr. Eric Durant is
an associate professor at the Milwaukee
School of Engineering (MSOE). He teaches primarily in, and is the director of,
the computer engineering program.
During the summers he works with Starkey Laboratories as a DSP Research Engineer. He has worked with Starkey since 2000, researching genetic algorithms to efficiently perform parametric fitting of audio processing parameters in hearing aids, robust perceptual rank inferencing, and beamforming. A US patent is pending on his genetic algorithms work and an application has been submitted based on his inferencing work.
Dr. Durant has bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering (1998) from MSOE. He received both his master's degree (1999) and PhD (2002) in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan. He is currently pursuing the Executive Master in Business Administration (MBA) at the University of WisconsinMilwaukee (2011, expected).
At Johnson Controls, Inc. (19961998), he worked in the Central Research group on projects related to Internet technologies, GIS, and building control interfaces.
Dr. Durant is a senior member of the IEEE (S'93 M'02 SM'06) and has been a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) since 2002.
