Dr. Eric Durant is
an associate professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science
Department at the Milwaukee
School of Engineering (MSOE).
He regularly consults with Starkey Laboratories, which is where he performed much of his thesis research in the area of using genetic algorithms to efficiently perform parametric fitting of audio processing parameters in hearing aids. A US patent is pending on this work.
Dr. Durant has bachelor's degrees in electrical engineering and computer engineering (1998) from MSOE. He received both his master's degree (1999) and PhD (2002) in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan.
At Johnson Controls, Inc. (19961998), he worked in the Central Research group on projects related to Internet technologies, GIS and building control interfaces.
Dr. Durant is a senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) (S'93 M'02 SM'06) and has been a member of the American Society for Engineering Education (ASEE) since 2002.
