I’m not the type to put a sticker on my car,
But I saw one at the bookstore; it was the best I’d seen so far.
I stuck it on my auto, on the bumper in the rear.
I stood back and admired it; it almost brought a tear.
“HONK IF YOU LOVE JESUS”, is what the sticker said.
And as I drove, the saying kept going through my head.
The joy of my experience, after putting on that sticker,
I surely couldn’t ask for responses any quicker.
I was stopped at a red light, at a busy intersection;
I was lost in thoughts of Jesus and deep in introspection.
I didn’t really notice when the light had turned to green
But the people showed their care more than I had ever seen.
The sticker really worked, so many showed their love.
They honked their horns, in unison, to honor him above.
One fellow rolled his window down and banged upon his hood.
He was yelling, “Jesus Christ”, just as loudly as he could.
“Go, Jesus Christ, go!” he chanted, it was like a football game.
They all leaned out their windows and began to shout his name.
It made me feel so happy, to see their loving care;
They began to get acquainted and they all began to share.
One guy opened up his door. (He was sure a great big sucker!)
He talked about his mother; he said she was a trucker.
I heard another yelling, above the honks and screeches,
He must have been from Florida - he spoke of sunny beaches.
And then he waved a hand at me with so much love and care.
He held his hand real funny, one finger in the air.
Now both my boys, who’d seen it, began to giggle and to shove.
They told me it was Hawaiian and was their sign for love.
My heart so filled with joy, I thought the sign a gem.
So I leaned right out my window and I gave it back to them.
They jumped out of their cars and began to run my way.
I guess they all loved Jesus and were gathering round to pray.
Just then the light turned yellow and I really had to go.
I was the only one to make it; all the others were too slow.
But these new friends in Christ had certainly made my day;
I gave them all the love sign, then I quickly drove away.
