Kurama/Suuichi
"My truest name is Yoko- the fox demon."


Kurama is actually over 300 years old, even though he only looks to be 15 years old. You see, Kurama is actually the devious fox demon, Yoko. One day, he was seriously injured by a bounty hunter and managed to escape into the living world. He then hid within an expectant woman and was born as a human child, named Suuichi. Yoko lay dorment inside of Suuichi for 15 years, slowly regaining his strength. Suuichi would've probably lived a relatively normal life if it hadn't been for Hiei. Hiei came to Kurama one day, seeking his knowledge and expertise of ancient artifacts. When Kurama was Yoko, he had taught himself how to open locks and figure out puzzles in order to obtain treasures. His favorites were ancient artifacts, so, he was almost an expert in the subject. Anyway, Hiei and Kurama worked together with Gouki to raid the King's Vault in Spirit World to obtain the Shadow Sword, the Forlorn Hope, and the Orb of Baask. (Retrieving the items and defeating the trio was Yusuke's first case as Spirit Detective.) Kurama withdrew from his alliance with Hiei and Gouki after he got the Forlorn Hope because he just wanted to cure his human mother, who was very sick. He did not fight Yusuke; actually, Yusuke wound up saving Kurama's life. (If Yusuke hadn't intervened when Kurama was using the Forlorn Hope, Kurama's life would've been taken.) Kurama told Yusuke the entire story of his life, how he was a demon in a human body. Kurama later became Yusuke's first and most trusted teammate by helping Yusuke defeat Hiei.

Since then, Kurama and Hiei have been living out their punishments for their crimes without very many problems. Part of their punishment was helping Yusuke to defeat the Four Saint Beasts in Maze Castle, which they did very well at. After he had finished his punishments, Kurama was allowed to go back to the human life he had been living. Not that he was done being involved with the Spirit Detective, of course. "No rest for the weary," as the saying goes.

Kurama is the wisest member of the Urameshi team. He is brilliant and cunning and always thinking up new stradegies to defeat his opponents. Kurama is ruthless and unbelievably preciese in battle. He remains focused and calm throughout a battle, and always seems to know just how to get inside his enemies' heads. He has only met a few opponents who are as skilled at mind games as he is. He is also as fast and nimble physically as he is mentally. Kurama has a very unique power as well; he has control over every kind of plant. He also has his famous "Rose Whip" attack, as well as his "Death Plant". (Hightlight the next lines to see a possible spoiler if you have not seen the Dark Tournament.) During the Dark Tournament, Kurama was accidentally changed into his Yoko-Kurama form. Yoko-Kurama is a very powerful half fox demon, half human part of Kurama. (Yoko-Kurama actually looks a little like Inu-Yasha, only a lot taller and older.) Later on in the Dark Tournament, Kurama transformed back into Yoko-Kurama to defeat an opponent. Yoko-Kurama also has control over all plants, but he is much more ruthless than Kurama and has no sense of compasion whatsoever. Yoko-Kurama can also summon deadly plants from the bowels of Spirit World. All of these things combined make Kurama a very skilled fighter and almost unbeatable in battle.

Kurama and Hiei are apparently partners and seem to know so much about each other that they could almost be thought of as best friends or even brothers, but neither of them are quite that sensitive. (^^;) Kurama sometimes acts as almost a translator for Hiei, explaining some of the things he does to Yusuke and Kuwabara. Kurama is very loyal to the Urameshi team and always helps out his teammates. He's always looking out for everyone and is often the one to figure out riddles and puzzles that the group comes across. Between him and Hiei, they can explain almost anything that happens (Demon related). Kurama gets along very well with everyone in the group, and almost never gets angry. He is alway calm, cool, and collected, and often breaks up the quarrels in the group. Kurama is good, kind, just, intelligent, and never arrogant or cocky. But, still, Kurama remains somewhat of a mystery, even to those who know him well...

Suuichi is the brightest student at his school, and always has the top scores on tests. He has a loving mother and a good life. How he came to be called "Kurama" is unknown, since his fox demon name was Yoko and his human name is Suuichi. Suuichi's mother has no idea that her son is really a demon inside.

Kurama is an invaluable member of the Urameshi team, with his boundless knowledge and great strength. Kurama rocks! =D
