O. G. Petersen is a Professor in the Electrical Engineering and Computer Science Department at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. His interests include high frequency integrated circuit design, integrated circuit technology, general analog and digital design, computer simulations, project management, and quality in manufacturing. Dr. Petersen is Program Director for the Electrical Engineering program at MSOE.

He has a Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering (1963) from the University of Wisconsin (Madison) and a Master's (1965) and a Ph.D. (1971), also in electrical engineering, both from the University of Pennsylvania. In 1963 he joined AT&T Bell Telephone Laboratories (commonly known as Bell Labs) as a Member of Technical Staff. His 30+ year career with Bell Labs ranged over technical disciplines such as metallurgy, Fortran programming, analog device testing, microwave and millimeterwave discrete component design, integrated circuit technology development, high frequency integrated circuit design, integrated circuit layout methodology, computer component modeling, and reliability studies.  Bell Labs is undoubtedly the premier research and development organization of all time.  That is where the transistor was invented, and negative feedback, and .... (a very long list).

Dr, Petersen served as an AT&T Bell Labs Visiting Professor at North Carolina A&T State University for 2 years (1990-1992). He has been a guest lecturer at Howard University and the Czech Technical University in Prague, Czech Republic.

Dr. Petersen is a Senior member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, and a member of the IEEE Communications Society. At MSOE he also serves as a Program Director in the Applied Technology Center.  He strongly believes in maintaining contact with regional industry.  He also serves on the board of directors for Engineers and Scientists of Milwaukee and Milwaukee Area Lutheran Campus Ministry for ELCA.
