The MSOE Registrar's Office is responsible for scheduling classes. One part of this process is assigning classes to classrooms and laboratories. You have been asked to develop a software package to assist in this task.
In a given academic quarter, a number of courses are offered. Each course is identified by a course number (e.g., "CS-183") and has one or more course sections. A primary professor is assigned to each section; one professor may be assigned to multiple sections of multiple courses. Most courses are offered on the main MSOE campus, though others are scheduled at the Fox Valley campus or on-site (e.g., at a local company's plant).
Course sections typically meet for one or more sessions per week. Often the lecture sessions for a course are all at the same time of day and in the same room, but this is not always the case. Lab sessions are usually scheduled at a different time and in a different room. Evening courses have fewer (but longer) sessions per week. Classrooms and laboratories are identified by room numbers (e.g., "S-362") and vary in the number of students they can accommodate.
Students register for specific sections of their desired courses. Students may add courses or change sections during the first week of class. Some sections are held for specific groups of students until a certain date.
