Chicago Auto Show 2001

My favorites from the 2001 Chicago Auto Show. The classics are on display from the collection of the Volo Auto Museum.

 Volvo Safety Concept Car.

 2001 Aston-Martin DB-7.

Nissan Z Concept Car was scheduled for release in the summer of 2002. The concept is described in the Nissan brochure as "...revolutionary, inside and out. Innovative, yet with a nod to heritage." It would become the 2003 350Z with few changes, featuring a 3.5L aluminum-alloy 24-valve DOHC V6 with molybdenum-coated pistons and a close-ratio 6-speed manual or 5-speed automatic transmission. Other significant standard features included 4-wheel Anti-lock disc brakes, 17-inch 7-spoke aluminum-alloy wheels and a 160-watt 6-speaker, AM/FM/CD audio system. In addition to the base model, the 350Z would be available in Enthusiast, Touring, Performance and Track models as well.

 Ford Forty-Nine Concept Car.

 Ford Lightning Concept.

2001 Mercury Cougar. According to the brochure, the Cougar was equipped with AM/FM Stereo/single CD player, 50/50 rear seatback, front independent MacPherson compact strut and Quadralink rear suspension systems, SecuriLock™ passive anti-theft system, Trip computer, Wraparound projector and reflector headlamps, and was available with leather seating surfaces, Anti-lock Brake System, aluminum footrest, clutch brake and accelerator pedal pads, 170-horsepower 2.5-liter DOHC 24-valve Duratec V6 engine, and limited edition Cougar XR and Cougar C2 trims.
